Why setting an intention is easy, but turning it into reality is hard for some people
“70% of Americans who responded to the latest poll said pursuing weight loss goals would be their top priority in the new year (2022)” [ 1 ] “Nearly half (46%) of Americans plan to save their tax refunds this year (2022)” [ 2, 3 ] “More than half (51%) of Americans say they are likely to look for a new job in the next 12 months” [ 4, 5 ] When you look at the human desire of “making our life better”, people don’t come short of intentions. Yet... If you scrath the surface, to see what ended up happening to their wishes, here’s the kind of insights you come across : The obesity rate went up 50% over the past 18-20 years. That is, among American adults. [ 6, 7, 8 ] And only 12% of those who wanted to find a new job, in 2021, did end up quitting the one they had for another. [ 9 ] Will American adults follow through on their intentions, this time ? Do people tend to follow through on their intentions, in general ? Here’s the short answer: It depends how ready they are to make a choice. Between (a) : put in the time, the efforts, the money and else that’s required... to “get a new job”, “lose the weight”, or “else”, to come true. Because they think it’s worth it. Or (b) : choose to keep things the way they are. Cause no one struggles with setting an intention. When he or she gets to a point where, she believes her work life... for example... should be better than it is right now. In one way or another. Now, the question is: are you at such point in your own life? - - References - - - - - - -
