Or how to stir your work life\u2019s direction closer to \u201cI always wanted to make a difference \u2013 through my work – and now have what it takes to do it<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You wish your job or the type of work you do, made you feel different.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Not like a \u201ccog in a profit making machine<\/em>\u201d, a \u201cnumber on a payroll<\/em>\u201d or someone insignificant.<\/p>\n

As it\u2019s the case, right now.<\/p>\n

But as a person who can bring something valuable to the table<\/p>\n

and make an impact in other people\u2019s lives<\/p>\n

through your work.<\/p>\n

Because, deep down, wanting to make an impact is what \u201cdrives<\/em>\u201d you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even if the resources and tools you\u2019ve used so far – to find a meaningful job – have failed.<\/p>\n

Even if you doubt, at times, having what it takes to make a difference.<\/p>\n

Even if, lately, you\u2019ve started to believe that only the \u201clucky ones<\/em>\u201d can achieve such a goal.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Still. You\u2019re not the kind who easily gives up.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You\u2019re convinced there must be a way to \u201ccrack<\/em>\u201d this problem.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You simply haven\u2019t figured out the solution, yet.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And it bothers you. (Almost to the point where it pisses you off, at times.)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even more when, in your mind, the type of work you want is pretty clear, overall:<\/p>\n

\u201cI want a job that makes me say: \u201cThis work is worth doing.\u201d Because it suits, both, my skills and personality. (\u2026) Because I like what this job is about. Its outcome too\u2026 and I feel useful while doing it<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now, you just don\u2019t understand why finding this type of work; a meaningful one, is so hard.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI wish it was easier. (\u2026) And knowing what truly suits me best, for work, could be clear<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I get you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Because I said things like these too, in the past.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So, if you\u2019ve wondered about it\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026 YOU\u2019RE NOT ALONE<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You\u2019re not alone in having this problem, of doing all you can\u2026<\/p>\n

and not getting any closer to what you\u2019re looking for, to what you seek.<\/p>\n

Meaning:<\/p>\n

Scanning through countless job descriptions.<\/p>\n

Completing your fair share of career quizz.<\/p>\n

Testing your IQ, your EQ and any other acronym they might come up with.<\/p>\n

Even answering things like \u201c7 weird questions that will help you find your life purpose<\/em>\u201d that a friend sent you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Only to realize that, after all these efforts, you end-up with the same result.<\/p>\n

E-ve-ry single time.<\/p>\n

That is: being more confused than before, and clueless about what you should do next.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Instead\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You wish there was some sort of roadmap.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A series of steps that would provide you with specific and practical information to work with.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So you could go from \u201conly doing regular (meaningless) work<\/em>\u201d to \u201cstarting to make work I care about<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT WHAT YOU HAVE TRIED SO FAR<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The piling up of all these \u201ctry and fail<\/em>\u201d has made you doubt yourself lately.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even question if chasing that goal \u2013 of finding your \u201cwork fit<\/em>\u201d, as I call it \u2013 is worth it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cDo I have what it takes\u2026?<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause finding a regular job, I can. I know how. But finding a meaningful one? I suck at it.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If we were to have a coffee together, and talk about this situation, we\u2019d certainly realize that\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

FOR YOU, WHAT\u2019S IMPORTANT ISN\u2019T SO MUCH THE WORK ITSELF<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2026 but how the work you do and its outcome, put together, make you feel.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You don\u2019t want your work to be \u201cjust a job<\/em>\u201d. To \u201cjust do it<\/em>\u201d, neither.<\/p>\n

You want \u201cmore<\/em>\u201d out of working.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You want to matter.<\/p>\n

(That is, on top of making a living.)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And in your opinion, \u201cdoing work that helps improve someone else\u2019s own work, or life, even if only just a little<\/em>\u201d is actually a way to matter.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m one of many people who would agree with you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

TRUTH IS\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2026 the \u201cfit<\/em>\u201d you\u2019re trying to find \u2013 with a type of work you would actually care about doing \u2013 exists. Because other people have found their own before. So yours exists too.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And this \u201cbigger goal<\/em>\u201d you have in mind \u2013 of building a meaningful work life \u2013 has also been achieved by the same group of people as well.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You may even know some of these \u201cDifference Makers<\/em>\u201d, as I call them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here are two of the most famous ones in that group: Muhammad Ali and Steve Wozniak (Apple\u2019s co-founder).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ali is known for having chosen boxing as a way to make a living. He also used this work to promote civic rights for the African American.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This \u201cdual-choice<\/em>\u201d wasn\u2019t innocent or random. It was hugely influenced by him seeing a big problem.<\/p>\n

Which one? The limitations the American society (of the time) tried to impose on him, because of his skin color<\/em>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Steve Wozniak\u2019s own choice of computer engineering \u2013 as a career \u2013 wasn\u2019t random neither. It also came from seeing a big problem.<\/p>\n

Which one? New technologies (like computers) were making people feel insecure, powerless and excluded, in many ways.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He, Steve, believed technologies could be used \u201cto do good to people\u201d, and empower them<\/em>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So, one reason he founded Apple (with Steve Jobs) was to make sure his work would help give the general public an easy \/ user-friendly access to the \u201cpower of computers<\/em>\u201d. Something only big (and rich) corporations, like IBM, had access to before.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s it? I only need to find a \u201cbig problem\u201d, try to do something about it, and then my own job problem will be\u2026 fixed too? I\u2019ll have my \u201cwork fit\u201d?<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There\u2019s more to discovering a \u201cwork fit<\/em>\u201d than simply \u201ctrying to solve a \u201cbig\u201d problem<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Besides, not all problems are equals.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Still, for Ali and Wozniak, to successfully put a finger on an issue that had much influence in their respective lives was a major breakthrough.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One that allowed them to envision being able to answer \u201cWhat I want to do with my life? How can I make an impact in other people\u2019s lives?<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For having finally found \u201ctheir<\/em>\u201d answer, Ali and Wozniak might appear as \u201clucky<\/em> ones<\/em>\u201d but, in reality they aren\u2019t that different from you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Because they, too, wanted \u201cmore<\/em>\u201d out of doing the type of work they were doing.<\/p>\n

Not just a paycheck.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

THE<\/strong> TEACHINGS OF PEOPLE LIKE STEVE WOZNIAK AND MANY OTHERS<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At least, this is one of the many things I learned from spending countless hours studying the lives of \u201cDifference Makers<\/em>\u201d like Ali, Wozniak, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson, and many other men and women you may look up to. Past or present. Famous or not.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

From listening and asking questions to people who didn\u2019t find their \u201cwork fit<\/em>\u201d as well.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All this research work helped me identify a few core elements that people who have found their \u201cwork fit<\/em>\u201d or \u201cpurpose<\/em>\u201d all share.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One of these elements is what I call a \u201cfounding problem<\/em>\u201d; the problem that had the most impact in their own lives.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

THE MISSING LINK: AN EASY TO FOLLOW ROADMAP <\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Discovering insights like this one \u2013 of a \u201cfounding problem<\/em>\u201d – proved to be very valuable.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even more when they were put together.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As they highlighted a very natural sequence of small breakthroughs someone had to experience, in order to reach that point where he or she could say: \u201cWell, it\u2019s pretty clear, now, what I must do for work\u2026 and with my life\u2026 if I really want to make an impact<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This sequence is replicated in \u201cHillary\u2019s Roadmap<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A 7-step process for you to go from \u201cI don\u2019t know how to find meaningful work and make an impact<\/em>\u201d to \u201cI have what it takes<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even more when\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2026YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW BLUEPRINTS WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\u2019re both aware (you and I) that you like to challenge yourself.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For the thrill of seeing what you\u2019re truly capable of.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Often using, as an inspiration, other people\u2019s successful strategies, \u201chow to<\/em>\u201d or blueprints.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To give yourself some sort of an edge.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The one you like to count on.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At least, when what you\u2019re after is that \u201cYesss!<\/em>\u201d you like to say, once you\u2019ve achieved a goal. Right before adding \u201cI (really) wasn\u2019t sure if I could do it but see (?!), I had it in me!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(I get that. I do almost the exact same thing.)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Using \u201cHillary\u2019s Roadmap<\/em>\u201d is no different.<\/p>\n
